My P48- One year and counting!

My first post was on 27 July, 2013. It is now one year later with 58 blogs posted and nearly 30,000 views.  There are 100 followers of my blog.   Thank you for your interest and participation.   It has been fun for me to share my trials and tribulations experienced while building my Proto48 layout.

It is inspiring to look down the roadbed and visualize the track being in place.

  1. Candles look familiar — celebrated friend’s 68th birthday last evening with chocolate cake and same candles. We even reminisced about the old days when they didn’t have such cute candles — kind of like RTR trains today.

As to the one year anniversary — congratulations, I for one have enjoyed your reporting and look forward to more entries.

      • Tomorrow will be 4 weeks of retirement– 6 house guests are leaving in a few minutes and 3 more arrive Wednesday with 4 more coming on August 9 – some days I feel like I haven’t left work!

I have done zero model railroading since retiring — only thumbed through the new Gazette and British NG & Industrial Railway Review which arrived Thursday but I  have dug several holes at my wife’s direction for landscaping additions — happy wife happy life I am told.

I plan to get my half of the garage  cleaned out before Labor Day so I can get the dividing wall put in and HVAC installed then will call for delivery of the POD which contains most of my train collection so I have everything in hand for fall and winter layout construction. Might even start a Blog to keep me motivated. 8>)) Looks like there are a couple of guys in the area who are interested in On30 so I will test the waters and see if I can work with them.

  2. Congratulations from one of the hundred!

I like the various shots you have chosen to illustrate progress: might help inspire me to start mine soon!

  3. Gene,

Happy Birthday. I’ve enjoyed your blog and am happy for your progress. Keep up the great work and enjoy. Take care and best wishes.

  4. Gene:
As you solved various problems others benefited as well. P48 is not easy to model. However the satisfaction one receives from the extra effort makes up for the time required. As for retirement, I wonder why I ever looked for work.
