I did some playing around with the new stanchion castings to see how to mount them to the locomotive. I am planning to install my sets on a modified Red Caboose GP-9 kit. The frame on the RC model is plastic so soldering is not an option. My thought is to put a 90 degree bend in the .024″ post wire. The wire can be installed into a hole drilled in the side sill.
Before inserting the post in the side sill, you can solder the tab to the wire. It also can be mounted with CA to the side sill.
I am grateful that Jimmy Booth invested the time and money to make an essential detail for 1/4″ scale modelers. There were only sixty sets imported. Most of them are spoken for. If there is sufficient demand, a second run may be possible.
